If you are learning to drive with a family member, and would like an assessment to make sure you are learning correctly & within the current DVSA regulations, Select 1st offer a 1 hour driving assessment, followed by a 45min assessment report explained face to face to your family member, in a location of your choosing. Contact us for more details.

If you are currently training with a family member in your own car, but you are not sure if you are being taught correctly, then Select 1st can give you a 1 hour (1-1) Video Consultation to discuss your training. This will help you make sure you are learning within the current regulations set out by the DVSA (Driving Vehicle Standards Agency)

Select 1st Driving school only runs 2 Hr Lessons. (We do not offer 1 hr Lessons)
This gives enough time for the student to drive to Dorchester & back, as well as have time in Dorchester to complete a good amount of training during the lesson.

Providing your location is within our instruction areas, we can arrange a pick up and drop at your desired location/residence. Please see our 'AREAS' page for more information

If you live outside our instruction areas, we can still arrange to meet you at an agreed location, this is normally Wool or Dorchester Train Station

Everyone is an individual, and because of this reason everyone learns & trains at different speeds. If you are a fast or slow learner, this will not effect your ability to pass your test. Don't forget its not about how quickly you pass your test, its about passing your test to a safe standard. Please see our 'TEST READY' page for more information

Once you are close to being test ready, your Instructor will talk through with you how to book your test. There are several ways it can be done and your instructor can explain this in detail.

The DVLA (Driving Vehicle Licensing Agency) state that the average time to pass your driving test for people who pass the first time is around 40 hours of lessons with a driving instructor, supplemented by 20 hours of supervised practice with family or friends.

In the case of most learners, this takes around four to five months.
